Probably one of the biggest gripes of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was the choice to have Ben Solo die at the end of the movie. A lot of people had really wanted Ben to live by the end, but since we didn’t get that, we have internet artists to try and visualize what could have been.

This fun piece of art from @KasiopeaArt imagines what it would have looked like if Rey managed to save Ben and he was brought to the Resistance base to get healed up:

We don’t really know what Lucasfilm had originally planned for TROS, but it’s said that Kylo Ren turning was always the plan. We don’t know if he was supposed to die, but if he had lived, I can’t help but think this scene would have happened.

Personally, I’m in the camp that thinks Ben Solo should have survived. With Vader dying just after his redemption, it would have been interesting to see what Ben would have done to atone for his actions as Kylo. My idea is that, instead of Rey coming to the Lars homestead on Tatooine, it’s actually Ben, and we watch him gaze at the twin suns as he starts his life of exile as a farmer. It’s fanservice-y enough, and we have a nice peaceful conclusion for Ben.

For now, Lucasfilm is putting the film franchise on hiatus, and the next movie is set to come out in 2022. As for the series, the second season of The Mandalorian is set to hit Disney+ this October.
