The Classic Titans Return in Trailer for ‘Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans’

Teen Titans Go! The Movie had teased to us a return of the classic anime-esque Titans from the early 2000s, and now we have our first trailer for Teen Titans Go! Vs. The Teen Titans.

Here's the official description:

In Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans, the comedic modern-day quintet takes on their 2003 counterparts when villains from each of their worlds join forces to pit the two Titan teams against each other. They'll need to set aside their differences and work together to combat Trigon, Hexagon, Santa Claus (that's right, Santa!) and time itself in order to save the universe.

Besides the original cast coming back to voice both versions of the Titans, we also have some guest stars coming for the other characters. Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) is voicing the Master of Games, Robert Morse (Mad Men) is the voice of Santa, Sean Maher (Firefly) is Nightwing, and the cherry on top is Weird Al Yancovic voicing Gentleman Ghost and Darkseid.

Admittedly the animation of the "serious" Titans isn't as smooth as the original, but I don't think it's a real big issue. After all, I think what makes Teen Titans Go! really shine is their writing, and the show is known to make several meta jokes on how a lot of fans prefer the original version.

No official release date has been announced, but Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans is set to hit home video sometime later this year.
