The Batman: Deadpool’s Zazie Beetz and More Had Auditioned for Catwoman

News had just come out that Zoe Kravitz would be playing Selina Kyle for Matt Reeves' The Batman, but some fans are curious about who almost landed the role besides her. As it turns out, Joker and Deadpool 2 star Zazie Beetz had also auditioned for the part.

I thought Beetz would have actually been great for the role, and I think it would be cool that she had also appeared in Joker, further implying an alternate reality DCEU. Then again, with the possibility that she's still going to play Domino in a future Deadpool film, I think it's for the best that she didn't end up playing Catwoman.

THR had also reported that other actresses who have read with Pattinson for the Catwoman role include Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), and Ella Balinska (Charlie's Angels). De Armas is my personal favorite for the part, but if Kravitz landed it, it's likely she was the one who blew everyone away during her audition.

With Batman and Catwoman now cast, fans are just waiting for the rest of the Batman actors to be revealed. It looked like Jeffrey Wright had definitely landed the part of Jim Gordon, but we haven't gotten any solid updates about Jonah Hill playing Riddler yet or John David Washington playing Harvey Dent.

The Batman is set for a release on June 25, 2021.
