Terminator: Dark Fate is Bringing Back Edward Furlong as John Connor

Terminator: Dark Fate may be focusing on a younger cast, but we're going to be seeing a return from franchise veterans like Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Good news is, the movie is going to be bringing back the original John Connor—Edward Furlong.

Furlong's return was confirmed by James Cameron at the Dark Fate panel at the San Diego Comic-Con (via ComicBookMovie). We don't really know in what capacity Furlong is returning, but I have a feeling it's just going to be a short cameo.

Despite having groundbreaking roles in films like Terminator 2 and American History X, Furlong, like many child actors, has been mostly been working under the radar now. With this return to Terminator, I'm very interested to see if this could get him turning heads once again. Then again, I think it would really have to depend on how big of a role he's got, and we haven't really gotten any news about him until today.

More than two decades after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Sarah Connor sets out to protect a young woman named Dani Ramos and her friends, as a liquid metal Terminator, sent from the future, attempts to terminate them.

Terminator: Dark Fate is directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool), and stars Mackenzie Davis, Linda Hamilton, Gabriel Luna, Natalia Reyes, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The film is set to hit theaters Nov. 1.
