Teaser Gives Us New Look at HBO's Watchmen Series

Though Game of Thrones 8 may be one of the most anticipated show's in HBO's 2019 lineup, a lot of audiences are also curious about Damon Lindelof's upcoming Watchmen series. HBO just recently posted up a teaser for all their upcoming programs, and in it, we have a small look at Watchmen.

Here are the clips cropped out:

We have our first look of Jeremy Irons in the series, and it's said that he would be playing an older Adrian Veidt a.k.a. Ozymandias in the show. In case you didn't know, this series looks to be a direct sequel to the original comic, and it will delve into the world that was conceived after Ozymandias' mass genocide.

What's cool is, the aesthetics seem to be following Zack Snyder's Watchmen film, and I'm excited to see more of these Rorschach wannabes. My guess is they've found out that Veidt was behind the false alien attack, and they want to reveal to the world what really went down back in the 80s.

Though I can imagine some people are mad that this isn't a remake of the comic, I think it's great that it's going to build on the themes presented in the original Watchmen, and applying them to the modern day. Besides, Snyder's take with his movie was already pretty accurate for the most part. We don't really need to see it done again.

No specific release date has been announced for the Watchmen series, but it's expected to debut sometime this year.
