Star Wars: The Clone Wars has a Character Based on Kobe Bryant

The world is currently mourning the sudden loss of basketball legend Kobe Bryant. Several tributes from multiple communities have been coming out to honor him, and what's interesting is that there's actually a droid character from The Clone Wars that was based on Bryant.

As pointed out by The Star Wars Underworld, the character of K2-B4 in The Clone Wars was named after Bryant. Here's the post:

If anything, the color scheme and name seem to be the only influences that the character has when it comes to Bryant. I don't think this T-series tactical droid has any other traits that could be reminiscent of the basketball player.

The news of Bryant's passing has come as such a shock to the world, and even people who aren't basketball fans are admittedly affected by the sudden loss. Besides being a sports hero, Bryant was also an active philanthropist, being the official ambassador for the After-School All-Stars (ASAS) and starting the Kobe Bryant China Fund which raised money for education and health programs.

Bryant had also won an Oscar in 2017 for Best Animated Short Film with Dear Basketball. He was actually the first African-American to win the Academy Award in that category. What's more, the music for the short was provided by none other than Star Wars' very own John Williams.

The world had lost an icon with Bryant's passing, and the internet is still in shock. Everyone's hearts go out to Bryant's remaining family who are no doubt going through a tough time.
