Star Wars: Pablo Hidalgo Explains Decades-Old Question Fans Have About Dagobah

The Lucasfilm Story Group's Pablo Hidalgo is always a source of fun things about the Star Wars canon, and from time to time he'll be on Twitter answering fan questions whenever he feels like it. Just in, a fan has asked Hidalgo about a line that Luke says in Empire Strikes Back about Dagobah, and Hidalgo comes up with two answers.

The line, in particular, was about Luke landing on Dagobah and saying there was "something familiar about this place." It's never really explained in the movie, but Hidalgo replied:

Personally, I think the second answer is the most accurate one, seeing as the same narrative technique was also used in The Last Jedi, heck, even in movies outside of Star Wars. While some would like to stick to the Mimban explanation, I'd like to think it gives more meaning to Luke's arrival in Dagobah when it comes to his connection to the Force and why he found himself there.

If anything, Star Wars has all the time to fix plot holes with EU explanation. Why did Ponda Baba's arm not cauterize when Obi-Wan cut it off? It's a special kind of blood of his species that doesn't coagulate. Why does the Death Star have such a glaring weakness? Watch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and find out for yourself.

For now, fans are waiting for one more expansion of the sequel trilogy so they can continuously ask more questions afterward. Catch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in theaters Dec. 20.
