Star Wars: Lucasfilm Clarifies Comment on that Lando Spinoff; Kathy Kennedy was Mistranslated

Earlier today, news came out that Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed a Star Wars spinoff story starring Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover). As it turns out, the French magazine (Premiere) where the quote comes from had been mistranslated.

This was the original quote that had been making the rounds:

"We think that the next spinoff will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian. Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca but Lando will be next."

As per io9, Kennedy's quote was actually closer to:

"We would love to tell a story about Lando Calrissian one day, but it's not relevant, it would be fun to tell the story of Han and Chewie ..."

With a lot of fans already questioning the existence of a Solo movie, there was also a lot of head-scratching when news came out that a Lando Calrissian movie was next. As it turns out, it was just some miscommunication between the magazine and Kennedy.

For now, Lucasfilm has a boatload of new movies that they are working on from Rian Johnson's own trilogy to a series of films coming from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. If anyone is asking for an anthology film, however, the fans online seem to be clamoring for an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie.

For now, we can catch Lando and Han in Solo: A Star Wars Story out on May 25.
