Star Wars Fans React to Concept Art for Colin Trevorrow’s Duel of the Fates

It's no mystery that a lot of people didn't like how The Rise of Skywalker came out, and now there is online fixation on Colin Trevorrow's cancelled Star Wars: Duel of the Fates. Some concept art had recently come out online, and fans on the internet couldn't help but express their disappointment.

By the looks of it, everyone has been bummed that we got TROS instead of dual-sabered Rey and underground Coruscant:

Though the concept art does look fantastic, fans should remember that the script for Duel of the Fates came out first, and that one wasn't all that good anyway. Though there are some elements that I prefer over The Rise of Skywalker, I didn't like the idea that Kylo Ren couldn't be redeemed in any way. Plus I wasn't a fan of the script pairing Rey and Poe together—Poe is clearly supposed to end up with Finn; just ask Oscar Isaac.

We should also take in mind that this was written before the death of Carrie Fisher, so there would have to be a major rewrite after her death. If you ask me, they should have just leaned in on Fisher's death and had Leia die offscreen. There was no way Leia was going to say or do anything meaningful with just stock footage of Fisher. Maybe they could have her funeral at the beginning, and have her say one last meaningful thing in a recorded message?

Either way, we got The Rise of Skywalker the way it is. A lot are clamoring for a directors' cut of the film, but who knows if Disney will ever budge?
