Star Wars Episode IX: Rumor Suggests Yoda will Teach Rey This Time Around

One of the more surprising cameos from Star Wars: The Last Jedi was from Jedi Master Yoda as he appears one more time to leave a lesson for old Luke Skywalker. With Rey continuing her journey in Episode IX without a teacher, rumor has it that Yoda will be stepping in this time.

According to a source from New York Daily News, Lucasfilm is currently preparing to have Yoda reappear in the next Star Wars film. They say:

"The success of the scenes featuring Yoda in The Last Jedi were huge. Yoda will again appear as a ghost as he acknowledges Rey's success and growth as a Jedi. The scenes are due to be put together later this year."

It was a pleasant surprise to see Yoda return—in original muppet form, no less. Though he doesn't have some scenes of himself with Rey, I'm sure that he could find a way to communicate with her at some point in the movie. Though I am up for a Yoda cameo though, I think it would make more sense to have Luke appear to Rey—after all, he was only Jedi teacher that she had. Yoda doesn't have an emotional connection with Rey the way Luke does.

J.J. Abrams is gearing up to shoot Episode IX later this year. The script is already done, and hopefully it will bring the sequel trilogy to a satisfying end. Curious enough, Lucasfilm has said that it's possible that we see more of the characters in films after Episode IX. Maybe we're going to get anthologies set in the sequel trilogy era? Who knows?

Star Wars Episode IX comes out Dec. 20, 2019.
