Lucasfilm has been keeping a very tight lid on Star Wars Episode IX, and it looks like we won't get our first look until April. There have been several leaks and rumors popping around though, and we have some new info on characters of newcomers Keri Russell and Naomi Ackie.
This was posted up on Reddit by a ‘trusted source' on r/StarWarsLeaks, and it's said that a lot of the reports line up with previous rumors that have come before. These are the descriptions for Russell and Ackie's characters:
- Keri Russell'scharacter is a bounty hunter with an allegiance that is unclear to my source. Keri's character wears a purple (nearly magenta) jumpsuit with bronze/gold accessories, including an elongated helmet. (Think about a fancier version of Zam Wesell and my source says that will get you pretty close.)
- Naomi Ackie's character is supposedly Finn's sister.
It's worth noting that we should take the info on Ackie's character with a grain of salt, but it would kind of make sense that Finn would want to know a bit about his roots before he was taken in by the First Order. This is his last movie after all, and it would make sense that the film doesn't leave any more stones unturned by the time the credits roll.
As for Russell, a lot of people were sure that she would be playing Rey's mom, seeing as she actually does have some resemblance with Daisy Ridley. The way I see it, she will be playing the ‘role model' part much like Han did in TFA and Luke did in TLJ.
Then again, I think the lesson in the last film is that Rey can stand on her own without needing a parent. It's possible that Russell is just playing another cool character.
Again, until anything is officially confirmed, we should just take this news as rumors. With news on Episode IX being very scarce, fans are just holding on to whatever info they can find online.
