Star Wars Episode IX: John Boyega Receives A Special Stormtrooper Helmet from J.J. Abrams

The production for Star Wars Episode IX has wrapped, and it's natural for members of the cast and crew to get parting gifts from producers and directors. Finn actor John Boyega has posted up a video of him receiving a gift from J.J. Abrams, in the form of a Spider-Man-themed stormtrooper helmet.

Check it out:

I'll admit, when Boyega took out the helmet, I was convinced for a while that this was our first look at the rumored red stormtroopers that will be coming in Episode IX. If you look at the video closely though, you'll see that the helmet is covered in the pattern of Spider-Man's mask.

We don't really know what this means as a gift, but it could simply just mean that Boyega is a fan of Spider-Man and Abrams knew that. Some think that this is confirmation that Boyega will be playing the live-action version of Miles Morales, but I doubt the MCU is going to go to that territory anytime soon. If anything, we know that Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) voiced Spider-Man 2099 in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse; what if he was able to put in a good word for Boyega at Sony?

For now, everyone is waiting on the first teaser and title reveal for Star Wars Episode IX, and a lot of people are sure that it's going to come this April during Star Wars Celebration. Hopefully we also get a look at Jon Favreau's upcoming series Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

Star Wars Episode IX comes out Dec. 20.
