Star Wars Episode IX: Is John Boyega Teasing the Start of Production?

Solo: A Star Wars Story may have been a rough ride for Lucasfilm, but they are ready to begin work on Star Wars Episode IX. John Boyega just posted something up on Twitter, and it could mean that he's teasing the start of production.

It had previously been rumored that Episode IX was aiming to start production this summer, and now could be the perfect time for it to officially start. Sure Boyega's teaser is fun, but what fans really want to see is a picture of all the returning cast members.

We don't know much about Episode IX yet, but rumor has people believing that we'll be seeing a significant time jump. Boyega had revealed before that he had to grow his hair for the movie, and a time jump could give a good time for characters like Rey and Kylo Ren to grow a bit until we meet them again onscreen.

One of the biggest issues about the movie is the handling of Carrie Fisher's death, and a lot of fans are almost positive that we'll be seeing her funeral at some point in the film. With her gone, a lot of people are speculating that they will bring in Billy Dee Williams to play Lando Calrissian one more time—just so we can have another Legacy character in the movies.

Star Wars Episode IX is slated for a release on Dec. 20, 2019.
