Star Wars: Could Captain Rex Also be Coming to The Mandalorian?

With Ahsoka said to be making her live-action debut in The Mandalorian, there has been a call to also bring in the likes of retired Clone Commander Rex. What's interesting is, director Dave Filoni could be hinting at Rex's appearance in The Mandalorian as well.

As pointed out by Nerdist, Filoni had changed his cover photo on Twitter to feature an older Ahsoka as well as another fellow rider who looks a lot like Rex from Rebels. We don't know what this means for the show, but Filoni did make this change after it was announced that Ahsoka would be appearing in The Mandalorian. There's no way that Filoni would be out of the loop for that, so him changing his photo could be a hint.

Then again, rather than The Mandalorian, this could be a hint for the Rebels sequel series which is set to come out later in the year. Though we haven't had a look at the show yet, it's likely to feature Ahsoka and Rex as well; not to mention returning Ghost crew members like Sabine and Hera.

Personally, I would love to see Rex in The Mandalorian. Temuera Morrison is the right age to play him, and it would be great to see him go head-to-head with an actual Mando. What's more, there's also a guess that we could be seeing Boba Fett in the show as well. Having Boba clash into a fellow clone would be a fanboy dream-come-true.

For now, all we can really do is speculate. The Mandalorian 2 is set to debut on Disney+ this October.
