Star Wars: Chewbacca Actor Wants Solo 2 to Happen

The hashtag #MakeSolo2Happen has been around for a while, but we haven't got any updates on the project; just rumors that Lucasfilm is thinking about converting the sequel into a series for Disney+. As it turns out, even Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo wants a follow-up on Solo: A Star Wars Story.

He just posted this on his Instagram:

When Solo came out last year, it had underperformed in the box office for a number of reasons—none of them were because the film was terrible. As it turns out, Disney had watered down the marketing for Solo to focus on the release of Avengers: Infinity War, add to that there were still a lot of fanboys who were mad at The Last Jedi and opted to boycott the movie.

It had been confirmed by writer Jon Kasdan that this film was only the beginning of a story arc between Han and Qi'Ra, but now the sequel's fate looks to be in the dark. Lucasfilm seems to have put all their anthology films on hold, and from now on is focusing on main trilogies like the one from Rian Johnson and another series from Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

While a best case scenario would be a miniseries involving Han and Chewie, I would be happier with a movie, seeing that it would provide a lot more spectacle—which is what Star Wars is all about. Then again, if Lucasfilm and Disney aren't willing to take that risk, I would settle for anything to see Alden Ehrenreich back as Han since he was fantastic.

A sequel for Solo has not been announced, but you can catch Suotamo back as Chewbacca in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which comes out Dec. 20.
