Star Wars: Bryce Dallas Howard Had A Lot of Creative Freedom Directing The Mandalorian

Ever since Phil Lord and Chris Miller got fired from Solo: A Star Wars Story, there has been a lot of talk about Lucasfilm and how much creative freedom they give their directors. Bryce Dallas Howard was brought on board to direct episodes for The Mandalorian, and so far she says she had enough creative freedom when it came to the show.

Talking to ScreenRant, Howard explained, "I really thought that I was going to just basically be like a soldier. And the reality was that both Jon [Favreau] and Dave [Filoni] wanted each of the filmmakers to very much put our stamp on everything. I was shocked, honestly. I kept telling my dad, and he was like, 'Really?!'"

It's funny that she should also share her father's reaction as Ron Howard was asked to take over for Solo: A Star Wars Story after Lord and Miller left the project. I imagine Howard was still able to have some liberty when it came to making his film, but he probably had a lot of rules to adhere to when it came to Lucasfilm.

For now, everyone is expecting a big reveal for The Mandalorian this Friday, as it's said we would finally be getting our first trailer. Something was shown at Star Wars Celebration last April, and a lot of fans have been disappointed that Lucasfilm hasn't released anything until now. Then again, it would make sense that Disney would want the Mandalorian to help hype up the release of Disney+.

The Mandalorian is set to come out on Nov. 12, the same day Disney+ launches.
