Star Wars Battlfront II to Introduce BB-8 and BB-9E as Playable Heroes

After a year of bringing in Clone Wars content, Star Wars Battlefront II is moving on with material for the Sequel Trilogy. Besides the upcoming Rise of Skywalker content this month, it's been revealed that we're actually getting two new heroes in January 2020.

According to a Community Transmission on the official Battlefront forum, BB-8 and BB-9E (the black astro droid from The Last Jedi) will become playable heroes in Battlefront II. We don't have any details on how the two will be playable, but some think they will have the same mechanics as the playable R2-D2 in the 2015 Battlefront game. Then again, I think it would be wild if they made them the same tier as heroes like Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker.

Besides the two new heroes, the game also promises to bring the Sequel Trilogy to Capital Supremacy and Instant Action as well. Of course, this would mean capital ships for the First Order and Resistance, and the devs say it will be interiors of the First Order Resurgent-class Star Destroyer as well as the Resistance MC85 Star Cruiser (The Raddus from TLJ).

Though some think Rise of Skywalker would have been the last expansion, it looks like DICE has plans all the way up to March. Hopefully, we get something from The Mandalorian at some point or the upcoming Cassian Andor series. God knows it's going to be a long wait until 2022 when the next big Star Wars film comes out.

Star Wars Battlefront II is now playable for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
