Spider-Man: Miles Morales Announces Art Book and Prequel Novel

While a lot of people were expecting a sequel to Spider-Man PS4, Insomniac is instead giving us a spinoff focused on Miles Morales. With Spider-Man: Miles Morales set to launch alongside the PS5 this November, it's been announced that two companion pieces will release before and after the game.

Check it out:

The first piece to release will be a prequel novel called Spider-Man Miles Morales: Wings of Fury and will be written by Brittney Morris (Slay). Here's the synopsis:

With an exclusive adventure leading directly into the game itself, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales – Wings of Fury features Miles Morales coming to terms with what it means to be Spider-Man. A mix-up with the law leaves Miles questioning everything and when Vulture and his accomplice Starling unleash experimental tech on Marvel's New York, Miles must decide what kind of hero he wants to be.

Starling is actually a new vigilante character in the comics, so it's going to be interesting to see how she factors into this world of the PlayStation Miles. We know the story doesn't exactly line up with the comics, so we could be looking at something different. With the game being based on comic characters though, I'm curious why they didn't just make a prequel comic instead. It seems to be more fitting to the genre if you ask me.

As for the artbook, it should be full of concept art and neat Easter Eggs. Some have pointed out that the Miles on the cover seem to be donning the outfit from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. We don't know if this will be in the story of the game, but it is a pretty neat look.

Wings of Fury is set to come out on Nov. 10 and Spider-Man: Miles Morales – The Art of the Game comes out February of next year. Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches alongside the PS5 on Nov. 12.
