The latest trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has a bit where Spider-Man actually recorded a Christmas Album, and though it just seems like some throwaway joke, the movie actually recorded two of the songs from the make-believe album.
This comes from a press junket for the film (via Meg Downey) who posted:
If you look closely at the trailer, you'll see that there are a list of Christmas songs playing during Spidey's little montage, and they're all spider-related puns to classic tunes. You have the likes of Joy to the World (That I Just Saved), Spidey the Snowman, Spidey It's Cold Outside, and my personal favorite: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like a Non-Denominational Holiday.
Hopefully, the songs get popular enough that Sony will eventually release a full album. I'm just curious if the animated Peter Parker is even good at singing at all.
Though the jokes are of the ‘blink-and-you'll-miss-it' nature, I think the filmmakers were already familiar with today's internet culture where fans would meticulously dissect every frame of any new trailer that's been released. At least we get some extra laughs when we look further into the film.
