Spider-Man Far from Home: Mytserio Said to be Hired by SHIELD to Catch ‘The Elementals’

Much to everyone's dismay, the release of the Spider-Man: Far from Home trailer has been delayed this week, and it looks like we'll have to wait for Into the Spider-Verse to come out before we can see any kind of marketing. Just in, we may have gotten some new info on Mysterio's character in the film, and it looks like the movie is dropping his VFX artist persona.

As per Omelete.com (via Discussing Film):

In the comics, Mysterio was a VFX artist that used his mastery of special effects to fool people (and Spider-Man) with his elaborate heists. Knowing Mysterio as the villain and reading the description, it looks like he will be playing an elaborate chess game with Fury, posing as an investigator, but is actually the man behind these Elementals.

Why would Mysterio a.k.a. Quentin Beck do it? I guess he either has an inflated ego (like the Riddler) or he has something more sinister in mind. Hopefully it's not just a plot that anyone can guess right away. After all, with the description, everyone is already sure that Gyllenhaal is playing the bad guy, so Marvel will have to surprise us with something else.

And don't try to pull a "Mandarin" from Iron Man 3 on us as well.

Then again, we should all just take this news as a rumor for now and wait till the actual trailer comes out. Some people are already showing their disdain over the character choice online, but there's no use fighting over all these speculations.

Catch Spider-Man: Far from Home in theaters July 5, 2019.
