With a release date set for July 2021, it looked like Spider-Man 3 was set to start shooting long after the Coronavirus Outbreak had been handled. But now it looks like the film will have to be delayed as well.

As per The British Film Institute, even more productions have been hit by the virus, and we now have delays for films like The Little Mermaid remake as well as Tom Holland's third Spider-Man solo movie.

Though the production has been delayed, it looks like pre-production is still proceeding remotely. Seamus Garvey, who TheDirect suspects to be working on the third Spider-Man film, had this to say about the delay, "For the past week I've been in a strange cinematographic limbo, not knowing if I'll be able to shoot it or not… There is a significant amount of prep that can be done remotely, and we've been having daily meetings: work is progressing, and it has to. The film will happen, eventually."

This pandemic has really thrown a wrench into studios plans, effectively delaying films and their production schedules. It's worth noting that besides Spider-Man, Holland was supposed to be working on the Uncharted film as Nathan Drake. For now, it looks like Sony will have to figure out Holland's anew thanks to the delays that have been brought by the virus. If you ask me, there's no way they're going to prioritize Uncharted over Spider-Man, so maybe Holland will have to wait a bit longer before he gets to dress up as Drake.

For now, it looks like Spider-Man 3 is still keeping its original release date. It's slated to hit theaters on July 16, 2021.
