Short Clip of the Prince Ali Number from Aladdin Released

Aladdin is set to come out later this month, and though we've gotten short teases of musical numbers like A Whole New World and Friend Like Me, Disney has just released a short clip from Genie's other musical number, Prince Ali.

Though the film has been giving us some great teases, a lot of people are admittedly not so impressed with this rendition of Prince Ali. A lot of shade has been thrown at the lazy camera work, but what peeves me is the slower hip-hop beat of the song, plus Smith's voice sounding a tad auto-tuned.

Maybe the full sequence will manage to impress, but I feel that it still doesn't capture the same energy as the original scene from the cartoon. In that movie, you have Genie flitting over to several places in the crowd, and you can really feel how he went all out with the magic of making Aladdin a prince.

If anything, this movie is going to be passable, and we're going to get some interesting takes on some classic Disney musical numbers. The live-action Disney films were rarely known to impress, but people still check in out of curiosity and nostalgia.

"Aladdin" is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, the film is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney's animated classic "Aladdin."
