She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Return in New Season 2 Trailer

Netflix had successfully rebooted Voltron for modern audiences, and now they've brought new life into She-Ra with The Princesses of Power. After a successful first season, the streaming service is now ready for more of Adora and her friends, and we've just gotten our first trailer.

Here's the official description for Season 2 of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power:

Adora is finally beginning to accept her destiny as the legendary warrior princess, She-Ra, and leader of the Princess Rebellion. Still, there is much to learn as the threat of the Horde grows and Catra sinks deeper into the world of evil.

Though I admit that I think the animation needs more polishing, She-Ra definitely brings a breath of fresh air for the franchise, and I can see the appeal when it comes to the kids. The world is very vibrant and lively, and She-Ra makes for a good role model on the same par as the likes of Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel.

The show also kind of gets a leaf from the book of Steven Universe, giving us these complicated relationships and subversions to mainstream gender roles. There's a lot of romance implied between She-Ra and her rival Catra, and Bow doesn't act like your typical male hero. In fact, he's very in touch with his feminine side, even if the show clearly portrays him as a straight male.

Interestingly enough, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power 2 come out the same day as Avengers: Endgame. Catch it on Netflix April 26.
