Shazam!'s Zachary Levi Shows Full Support for Joker Despite Controversy

Joker had just come out last week, and the film is drowning in controversy from the movie using a song from a convicted pedophile to the film being fuel for would-be mass shooters. Despite this, Shazam! star Zachary Levi has come out to show his support for the film and the filmmakers.

This was his post on IG:

Though the film doesn't share the same timeline as the main DCEU, it's admittedly still part of the DC family. It's great that Levi is showing his support, and I'm also pleased that the movie is performing well in the box office. Not everything has to be MCU-esque, child-friendly fare. It's great to have these more thought-provoking, creative pieces when it comes to the comic book genre.

For now, Joker has managed to earn way more than what was initially projected, and fans are looking forward to WB pushing the DC Black label. It's not anything Marvel is doing right now, and with Disney owning the brand, it's likely they never would venture into some darker material; kudos to Todd Phillips for showing that the audience is still into these darker comic book films—it just depends on the execution.

Forever alone in a crowd, failed comedian Arthur Fleck seeks connection as he walks the streets of Gotham City. Arthur wears two masks -- the one he paints for his day job as a clown, and the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel like he's part of the world around him. Isolated, bullied and disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.

Catch Joker now in theaters.
