Scoob!: First Look at Scooby-Doo for the Animated Reboot

Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed basically killed the movie franchise for everyone's favorite cartoon dog, but a reboot is in the works, and this time it's going to be animated. The main cast has already been assembled for the movie, and we have our first look at the new Scooby.

@Animated_Antic also confirmed that the source of the image was legit, and the website for the Annecy Festival also gave the film this description:

Scooby-Doo is the hero of his own story in "SCOOB!," the first full-length, theatrical animated Scooby-Doo adventure, which reveals how he and his best friend Shaggy became two of the world's most beloved crime busters. The story takes us back to where it all began, when a young Scooby and Shaggy first meet, and team up with Daphne, Velma and Fred to launch Mystery Incorporated.

I have to say, the interpretation from 2D to 3D here is amazing, but some fans are waiting to see how he'll actually look in motion, seeing as that's a whole different thing from just a still image. When it comes to 3D trying to pull off 2D, I think there's already a lot to draw from, like the style of Hotel Transylvania as well as The PeanutsMovie from 2015.

As for the full cast of Scoob!, we have the likes of Frank Welker voicing Scooby, Will Forte as Shaggy, Gina Rodriguez as Velma, Zac Efron as Fred, and Amanda Seyfried as Daphne. The movie will also have Tracy Morgan playing the role of Captain Caveman, and I'm starting to get curious—is WB going to use this movie as a starting point for a Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe? Who's next, Top Cat? Penelope Pit-Stop? Secret Squirrel?

Scoob! Is set for a release on May 2020.
