Rumor: Marvel Really Wants Norman Osborn in the MCU

Though Spider-Man is in the MCU, the details of the deal between Sony and Marvel are still kind of tricky. Rumor has it that Marvel wants to extend their contract with Sony and it's because they want to bring in one character from the SUMC to work on things ‘beyond Spider-Man.'

This rumor comes from insider @DanielRPK:

We should take this info with a grain of salt for now, but the source has a good track record when it comes to scoops. He was able to get the scoop on Steven Spielberg directing Blackhawk for the DCEU as well as Ava DuVernay helming New Gods. The latest we got from him is that Avengers 4 will feature a 5-year time jump, but we'll have to wait until the film comes out to confirm that.

Seeing that Norman Osborn is one of the most iconic rivals of Spider-Man, it would make sense that he would eventually clash with the MCU Spidey. Not to mention, Oscorp could also prove a rival company to the likes of Stark Industries. With Venom seemingly taking place in his own universe, it would be a waste if the MCU Spidey never got to clash with the Green Goblin.

Then again, I'd be happy to see Peter Parker eventually take on the Sinister Six. How is it possible we've had three Spider-Men and no Sinister Six team-up yet?

For now, we don't know about the future of the Sony/Marvel deal, but seeing that Venom was such a critical bomb, it might be wiser for Sony to give the creative reins to Marvel Studios.

Spider-Man: Far from Home hits theaters July 5, 2019.
