Ron Howard Says Fan Affection for Solo: A Star Wars Story could #MakeSolo2Happen

While Solo: A Star Wars Story may not have performed well in theaters, the movie has gained somewhat a cult following, and a lot of fans online really want to #MakeSolo2Happen. While Lucasfilm doesn't seem to be interested in doing a follow-up now, director Ron Howard does say that the fan support could eventually change the studio's mind down the line.

Talking with the Lights, Camera, Barstool podcast (via The Direct), Howard explains:

"No rumblings, though, and this is not a spoiler or anything, but I think there is interest in those characters. I think there's interest in the gangster world somewhere down the line. But I can assure you there is nothing being developed right now for a movie or Disney Plus. But, one great thing is there has been a lot of affection shown for Solo, and so of course that keeps boding well for them to eventually turn it around."

Even if Solo is regarded as a bomb in terms of Star Wars films, it really isn't because the film was "bad." If anything, the poor performance could be blamed on Disney for watering down marketing to make sure people saw Infinity War instead. A lot speculate that if Solo was just pushed to December, it would have done way better in the box office.

Though there were original plans for a sequel film, fans are now settling for Lucasfilm to make the Solo follow-up a series like The Mandalorian. If anything, they just want the story of Han, Qi'Ra, and Maul to have its conclusion. Honestly, I just want to see how Han incurred his debt with Jabba.

Solo 2 may not be happening any time soon, but you can catch The Mandalorian Season 2 now on Disney+.
