Rick Moranis Officially Returning for Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Reboot

Rick Moranis has been retired from Hollywood for a while, but it looks like the 80s comedy legend is going to make a comeback on the big screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Moranis is confirmed to return for Shrunk, a reboot/sequel to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Josh Gad (Frozen) is set to be the main star, and he's playing the son of Moranis' character, Wayne Szalinski.

Besides Moranis and Gad, the movie also has original director Joe Johnston attached to the helm, with Todd Rosenberg providing the script and David Hoberman as the producer.

This will be the fourth movie in the Shrunk franchise. Besides, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Moranis also starred in the sequels, Honey, I Blew Up the Kid and Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves.

It's really great to see Moranis come back to movies since he hasn't had a live-action role in theatrical films since 1996; recently he's just been doing voice work.

Moranis has certainly made his mark in comedy. Besides starring in HISTK, he also played the part of nerdy Louis Tully in the Ghostbusters movies. He was also Dark Helmet in the cult classic Space Balls, a part which he recently reprised in an episode of The Goldbergs.

Fingers crossed they get Moranis to make a cameo in the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

As of now, no release date has been set for Shrunk, but hopefully, we get a significant update before 2020 ends.
