John Boyega Open for a Star Wars Comeback

While non-disclosure agreements keep actors from trashing the franchises they're working on John Boyega has made some sharp criticism with Star Wars ever since the release of The Rise of Skywalker. Despite Boyega's complaints though, he says he's still open to coming back to the franchise.

When asked by Yahoo! Entertainment on whether he would like to reprise Finn for any project in the future, Boyega replied, "I'm a Mandalorian fan, so Lucasfilm is doing very well with the TV shows… An animated show would be dope! We could do it from home."

While we know that Lucasfilm has animated shows planned like The Bad Batch and the sequel to Star Wars Rebels, I think it would be a neat idea if they would be able to make a Legends-focused series not too different from Marvel's What If…?. That way, they can tell stories of non-canon fan favorites like Kyle Katarn or Dash Rendar. Personally, I would love to have a whole special based on Colin Trevorrow's Duel of the Fates, a film some agree is the more organic sequel to The Last Jedi.

Boyega did have this to say about Trevorrow's cancelled plans:

"I think Colin Trevorrow was going to tell that story. That image of Finn with the blue flag, and you have the AT-ATs lined up with tribal marks, and the stormtroopers take off their helmets. That would have been sick! That would have been dope, man, hands down."

For now, Lucasfilm looks to be focused on the release of live-action shows, but hopefully we get an update on the animated shows before the year ends. In the meantime, fans wait for the premiere of The Mandalorian Season 2 this Friday on Disney+.
