RUMOR: Star Wars Episode IX Production Nearing End, Movie had ‘A Lot’ of Reshoots

While there are a lot of Star Wars things to be excited about for the year, the biggest one is probably the release of the sequel trilogy finale, Star Wars Episode IX. We haven't gotten any updates from the film since production started, but rumor has it that production is close to ending soon.

According to MakingStarWars.net's podcast, Now, This is Podcasting, the production for Episode IX has now been left to small skeleton crews, meaning that the movie is very much close to wrapping. What's also interesting is the movie was said to have a lot of reshoots, but it may not be as bad as you think.

When it came to news of reshoots for films like Rogue One and Solo, it basically meant that Lucasfilm was making changes and forcing the original directors out; Gareth Edwards was made to concede with Tony Gilroy's fixes and Phil Lord and Chris Miller were outright fired.

With Episode IX and the reshoots though, it looks like everything is still part of J.J. Abrams' plan. With him kickstarting the sequel trilogy with The Force Awakens, it seems that Lucasfilm trusts Abrams to do what he deems fit for the production. After all, this movie is said to be tying together everything from the Original Trilogy to the prequels; you can't blame them for being too careful.

We know how anal Star Wars fans can get over the tiniest details.

Until we get an official update, all we can do is wait for Star Wars Episode IX which comes out Dec. 20.
