Peyton Reed Wanted Rick Moranis to Cameo in the First Ant-Man

Rick Moranis may not be so active in Hollywood anymore, but he still has some memorable roles in films like Ghostbusters, Space Balls, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. With that last film having to do with size-changing sci-fi, Peyton Reed reveals that he actually wanted Moranis to cameo in the first Ant-Man movie.

Talking to Screen Junkies, Reed explained:

"We actually, at one point, attempted to get a Rick Moranis cameo in the first movie - still during the period, I think, where he wasn't doing so much acting. I think he's now gonna be on the CTV Scorsese-directed thing, which I'm super psyched about. But always, still, an unchecked box for me."

As for the cameo that did end up in the movie, a cab driver was played by Garrett Morris, who played the first live-action appearance of Ant-Man in a skit for Saturday Night Live. I think the cameo would have been Moranis' if he agreed to be in Ant-Man in the first place.

For now, Ant-Man and the Wasp is getting some favorable reviews, and it could be any time before we get the announcement of the third movie. Hopefully this time Reed will be able to get Moranis in a cameo role. After all, Moranis is slowly getting back onscreen, reprising the role of Dark Helmet for the ABC show, The Goldbergs.

Catch Ant-Man and the Wasp now in theaters.
