Patton Oswalt Thinks the Watchmen Team Should Take on League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Watchmen just aired its finale last weekend, and everyone online has been singing its praises, saying it's one of the best TV shows to come out of 2019. With such a faithful follow-up to Alan Moore's original comic, comedian Patton Oswalt thinks Damon Lindelof and his team should handle another Moore IP that's prime for a reboot.

As posted on Twitter, Oswalt thinks that the writing team should work on Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (a.k.a. LXG). Here's the tweet:

If you recall, back in 2003, 20th Century Fox had attempted to adapt LXG for the big screen, much to every fan's dismay. The movie was received so poorly that Alan Moore himself had sworn off being credited for adaptations of his other work; this movie is the reason Moore's name isn't on adaptations for V for Vendetta and the Watchmen movie.

If you're not familiar with LXG, it's basically Alan Moore trying to do a superhero team-up, but with characters from classic literature. The league consists of characters like Alan Quartermain, Dorian Gray, Captain Nemo (Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea), the Invisible Man, and Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. We even get appearances from other characters like Moriarty from Sherlock Holmes and a young Tom Riddle from Harry Potter.

We don't know if there are any plans to adapt LXG anytime soon, but I did think this should have been the direction that Universal went when they were making Dark Universe. If it does get adapted though, it would be great if they can capture Moore's original tone rather than the commercial-friendly film we got.
