Nightwing Director Chris McKay to Direct Netflix’s First Millarworld Movie: Reborn

After the success of LEGO Batman, Chris McKay was hired to direct Nightwing for the DCEU and then the Dungeons and Dragons movie. However, it looks like he won't be able to work on any of those projects at all as he's now been hired by Netflix to work on their first Millarworld movie.

According to Deadline, McKay has been hired to helm Reborn, an adaptation of a comic from Mark Millar. Here's the story description:

The sci-fi fantasy comic series by Mark Millar and Greg Capullo tells the story of an eighty year-old woman, Bonnie Black, who dies in a Manhattan hospital only to find herself reborn in the prime of life in the afterlife world of Adystria, a magical land of monsters and dragons where good and evil are waging an eternal war. There, she finds old friends and loved ones waiting, except the husband who died before her. Armed with a sword and partnered with her late father, she sets off through the battle-torn landscape on a quest to find out where he is.

What's interesting is, Sandra Bullock is also said to be producing the movie, and will also likely star. After the success of Bird Box last year, it's possible that Netflix may want to keep the Bullock-ball rolling.

It's been years since Netflix had announced their acquisition of Millarworld, and it's about time that we actually get an update from them. Mark Millar is a fantastic writer, and he's the same guy behind the likes of Kick-Ass, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and Wanted. If you want more of his mainstream comic work, he's written Civil War and Old Man Logan for Marvel as well as Superman: Red Son for DC.

Here's Millar's official announcement on Reborn:

As of now, we don't have a release date for Reborn, but my guess is it could be ready to stream by the end of 2020.
