New Stills from The Suicide Squad Show 2 Different Teams

Though DC fans are still trying to get one more win by having HBO #ReleaseTheAyerCut of Suicide Squad, WB is moving forward with James Gunn and his reboot/sequel The Suicide Squad. We just have some new images from the film, and it shows two different teams on the mission.

While the movie does look a lot more different from the first Suicide Squad film, a lot of people are curious on whether this is a complete reboot or straight up sequel. Director James Gunn addresses the issue by replying, "Um, it's its own thing… It does not contradict the first movie, I don't think. It might in some small ways… I don't know…"

While the costumes for the first film were all very realistic and gritty, it looks like Gunn is going for colorful with the costumes that have been picked out for the new members of the Suicide Squad. If anything, it looks a lot like his indie film Super starring Rainn Wilson, where a normal man decides to suit up and be a superhero by beating criminals with a monkey wrench.

Though the first Suicide Squad had been marred with news of heavy studio meddling, Gunn has said that he was allowed complete creative freedom when it comes to this reboot/sequel. Whether that's going to be a good thing, we've yet to find out. Hopefully the DCEU manages to keep doling out hits moving forward.

The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
