Rising star Anya Taylor-Joy is in the spotlight for Emma, and Marvel fans will get to meet her Magik when New Mutants finally comes out. What’s interesting is, she could be the star of George Miller’s next Mad Max film.

According to Variety Miller has had a meeting with Tayylor-Joy for the Mad Max spinoff centered on Charlize Theron’s character Furiosa. We don’t know if Taylor-Jot is being considered for young Furiosa, but I guess it would make sense; with the movie still in early stages of production, the main star is probably on the priority of the cast list. Personally I would prefer to have Theron play the character again, but if this is a prequel, then I guess it would make sense that they would cast someone younger.

Earlier this month, rumor came out that Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) was being eyed for the part, but with Taylor-Joy being a rising star, I feel like she would be the bigger draw should she be cast. Then again, that’s just my opinion.

Furiosa is said to be aiming for a 2021 production start, but with the Coronavirus Outbreak bringing everything to a halt, it’s possible that things could change moving forward. Fingers crossed that everything comes back to normal by June.

With “Mad Max” himself being considered sidelined in Fury Road, it would kind of make sense that Miller would attempt to focus on one of the more stand-out characters. Hopefully Furiosa will be a fun expansion to the Wasteland Miller has created.

In the meantime, Taylor-Joy is set to star as Magik in The New Mutants, which has unfortunately been put on hold until the virus subsides.
