Today's a big day for NetherRealm as they reveal their next game, Mortal Kombat 11. A new gameplay trailer has been released, and it gives us a look at old and new characters as well as some sick fatalities.
While a lot of old characters appear in the trailer like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Baraka, and Sonya Blade we have a look at someone seemingly new with the character of Skarlet. Interestingly enough, Skarlet was introduced way back in Mortal Kombat IX as DLC. It looks like they've greatly updated her move list for the upcoming game, and they've also given her a more distinct look (as compared to being the red variation of Kitana's model).
NetherRealm has yet to confirm the full list of fighters but there is definitely more than who we see in the trailer. There's this new character in the game called Geras, and I can't help but feel that he looks like Marvel's Thanos in some angles. Even his moves are sand/dust based.
Though the Mortal Kombat formula has been tried and true, MK11 seeks to differentiate itself by having two separate meters for defense and attack. The game has also given players a lot more freedom when it comes to customization, and players can also update moves when they play the game. Way to shake things up, NetherRealm.
Mortal Kombat 11 is set to come out on April 23 and will be available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
