New International Shazam! Promo has Billy Dissing Superman

While DC is focusing more on standalone films moving forward, next month's upcoming Shazam! has multiple references to other heroes in the universe. We have a new promo clip of Billy and Freddy testing out Shazam's powers, and in this one, Billy ends up dissing Superman.

The video basically has Billy trying out a dunk with his powers, only to have Freddy complain that Superman would have done it better. To that Billy says that Superman "is an alien, who doesn't even know basketball."

While a lot of superhero films deal with the hero going through their problems alone, I like how Shazam! has been putting emphasis on the chemistry between Billy and Freddy this whole time. At some point, it's kind of like Spider-Man, where superpowers are thrust upon Billy, and now he has to own up to the responsibilities of being a hero; the only difference is that Spider-Man didn't have a fanboy like Freddy trying to get him to learn the ropes.

Shazam! is looking to be another hit for the DCEU. So far, the reviews have been great, and the previews have been hilarious. Let's just hope the franchise doesn't stumble as it did with Suicide Squad or Justice League.

Billy Batson is a streetwise 14-year-old who can magically transform into the adult superhero Shazam simply by shouting out one word. His newfound powers soon get put to the test when he squares off against the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.

Shazam! comes out April 5.
