Next month will see the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and the film promises to give us an ending that encompasses all three trilogies of the franchise. EW has given us some new images from TROS, but they’ve also given us some fantastic alternate covers, each focusing on a different trilogy.
Check these out:
While we’ve seen some of these old images before, it kind of helps push the fact that TROS will try to reference each of the previous eight films. We already know that Ewan McGregor is coming back for an Obi-Wan show, but it’s nice to see Hayden Christensen in the spotlight. This just adds fuel to the theory that he’ll show up in some form in The Rise of Skywalker.
Though I’m not suspecting Christensen’s Anakin to be resurrected in any way, I think he could come back in the form of a clone. We don’t know much about the mysterious Sith troopers we’ve been seeing in the marketing, but my guess is that they’re a clone army, and their genetic template is none other than Anakin Skywalker himself. How scary would they be, knowing that they’re an army of arth Vader clones? I mean, they don’t have to be Force sensitive, but it could add a while new level of tragedy to the character.
Then again, that’s just speculation on my part. I can’t even wrap my head around how they resurrected Palpatine.
For now, catch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in theaters Dec. 20.
