Netflix's The Dragon Prince Renewed for Season 2

Netflix's The Dragon Prince had premiered earlier last month, and as expected, the series has already started gaining a following online. Now news has come out that the show has been renewed for a second season set for a release in 2019.

This was low-key shared by the official Dragon Prince account on Twitter trying to pass it off as "fanart":

This is certainly great news for the new fans of the show, and I can't wait to see the further adventures of the trio of Ezran, Callum, and Rayla.

I'll admit, after watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, the animation for The Dragon Prince is a huge hurdle to get over, but by the end of episode 2, you'll find yourself hooked. Not only is the world interesting, but all the characters are very well written. The main trio of heroes is likeable, and every side character has his or her own special quirks. The villain is kind of obvious, but I think they're building him up to have more depth than Firelord Ozai.

It's also worth noting that there's a game in the works set in the world of The Dragon Prince, but so far, we haven't gotten any official announcement yet. My guess is that it will look a lot like the animated show—that's why they decided to make the game with this cell-shaded anime aesthetic.

We don't have a specific release date on the second season yet, but we do know it's coming sometime next year. Catch The Dragon Prince on Netflix.
