Mortal Kombat 11: Original Spawn Voice Actor Keith David to Reprise Role for the Game

News had come out yesterday that NetherRealm won't be asking Arnold Schwarzenegger to reprise his role as the playable T-800 in Mortal Kombat 11, but that doesn't mean they've stopped trying to get original actors to reprise their roles. As it turns out, the game has managed to land the original voice of Spawn for the game.

According to Bloody-Disgusting, Spawn will be voiced by Keith David, who originally voiced Al Simmons/Spawn in HBO's animated Spawn series. We don't have many details for the character, but it's likely they'll try the same approach for other incoming heroes.

This is also a fun fact: David actually voices the president in Rick and Morty. That's only one of his numerous other voice-over contributions.

One character that wasn't revealed in the DLC roster was supposedly Ash from Evil Dead. Dataminers have already found the files, and Bruce Campbell himself has already hinted at his involvement. With Campbell probably demanding a hefty paycheck though, I expect the game will just use his likeness and have Ash be voiced by someone else. With the unique interactions between characters in the game, I imagine MK will need voice actors to be involved in the long run, recording new interactions whenever the game updates. Having someone who can do an impression is probably cheaper than asking the original actors to come back and do new recordings.

For now, NetherRealm is pacing the release of its DLC heroes. The next hero coming is the T-800 which will be released on Oct. 8. Spawn is set to come to the game Nov. 26.

Mortal Kombat 11 is now playable for Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
