Mortal Kombat 11 Announces Klassic Skins Based on 1995 Movie

While Mortal Kombat is set to get a movie reboot next year, the film adaptation that came out in the 90s remains a cult classic. With Mortal Kombat 11 not shy about pulling characters from movies, we have some new skins based on the old MK film from 1995.

Look familiar? The Klassic MK Movie Skin pack with voices and likenesses from the OG stars is available for separate purchase today!

The three skins we'll be getting are based on Sonya Blade (Bridgette Wilson-Sampras), Johnny Cage (Linden Ashby), and Raiden (Christopher Lambert). While I do wish we got a skin for Liu Kang, I think it's possible that NetherRealm is just waiting to see if this batch is successful before they start work on any more skins.

I have to say, the Raiden skin looks very cool, and they even got a different voice actor so the character really does sound like Highlander.

Though this feels like the first time that the game has referenced the MK films, they actually went full-on with it with the Shang Tsung DLC. The character was based on actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa from the first film, and he even says the iconic "Your soul is mine!" line whenever he wins.

The Mortal Kombat reboot was originally set to come out in March 2021, but until the pandemic starts to die down, the movie has been indefinitely delayed. In the meantime, players can just catch Mortal Kombat 11 which is now available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
