Michael Giacchino has been getting a stellar run, composing music for movies like Star Trek, Rogue One, Coco, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Now he's announced the start of recording for his latest project, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Giacchino will be coming back after providing the music for the first Jurassic World, and this will be the third time he'll be adapting John Williams' original score with his own. Before that, he (cleverly) had to work around Williams' original score for Star Wars and make his own themes for Rogue One.
Though a name like Hans Zimmer immediately catches attention when it's attached to a movie, I'm just as excited to see Giacchino getting attached to a film. I think his new score for the Trek movies is remarkable, and his theme for Doctor Strange is the only MCU theme that actually stuck with me when I left the theater.
As for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, a new director has taken the place of Colin Trevorrow in the form of J.A. Bayona. Original cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will also be back; even more, Jeff Goldblum will be reprising his role of Dr. Ian Malcolm from the first Jurassic Park.
Four years after the Jurassic World theme park was closed down, Owen and Claire return to Isla Nubar to save the dinosaurs when they learn that a once dormant volcano on the island is active and is threatening to extinguish all life there. Along the way, Owen sets out to find Blue, his lead raptor, and discovers a conspiracy that could disrupt the natural order of the entire planet. Life has found a way, again.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hits theaters June 22.
