Meet the Gang in Fantastic Poster for Lupin III: The First

Monkey Punch's Lupin III remains to be an anime classic, and Toho Animation is looking to bring the world's greatest thief into CG-animation with the movie Lupin III: The First. The film is set for a December release, and a new poster has all the classic characters (plus some new ones) coming together.

I have to say, I am still stunned by how the film was able to translate the classic anime look into CG for the movie. Lupin no doubt looks like Lupin from the manga, but there's just a lot more detail to his look that makes the character look amazing; the same goes for other characters like Fujiko, Jogen, and Goemon.

We don't know how exactly this movie will play out, but the trailers have been fantastic, and everyone is excited about this new Lupin. Hopefully, this will usher in a new era of CG-anime. Maybe we can get some reboots for other classics like Urusei Yatsura a.k.a. Lamu the Invader Girl or Sailor Moon. I'm sure a lot of anime fans would like to try out these classic properties, and maybe these CG films could serve as a jumping point.

Besides, not everything has to be from Disney or Illumination Studios.

Lupin III goes on a grand adventure to uncover the secrets of the Bresson Diary, which is tied to the legacy of his famous grandfather.

Catch Lupin III: The First when it hits theaters Dec. 6.
