Matt Reeves’ The Batman Gets More Villains Along with Character Descriptions

Wonder Woman may be only DC trinity member whose franchise is alive and kicking, but Matt Reeves' The Batman is already picking up some steam. We've had confirmations for villains like Penguin and the Riddler, but now we have some new info on some other rogues, plus some character descriptions on what the film is looking for.

According to The GWW, the movie is also looking to introduce Catwoman as well as the serial arsonist Firefly. Here they are with character descriptions:

CatwomanA "Gotham City burglar" who "wears a tight one-piece outfit and uses a bullwhip for a weapon." Reeves wants an actress of any ethnicity between the ages of 20 and 30.

Firefly"a professional arsonist"… He "attempts to burn all the places that he lacked the privilege to go as an orphan child." Reeves is searching for a male actor of any ethnicity between the ages of 20 and 30.

As for "main" villains, we have:

Penguin —a "Gotham City mobster." He is a "short, obese man with a long nose, and he uses high-tech umbrellas as weapons." Reeves is searching for a male actor of any ethnicity between the ages of 20 and 40.

Riddler —likely the main villain, who will be "a criminal mastermind in Gotham City who takes delight in incorporating riddles and puzzles into his schemes, leaving them as clues for the authorities to solve." Reeves is seeking a male actor of any ethnicity between the ages of 30 and 40.

The movie has teased that it will have an entire "rogues gallery" of villains, so it's likely we'll get more than just the characters listed down here.

Personally, I'm just hoping that Reeves finds out a good way to balance all these enemies. Based on what we've learned from Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, having multiple villains can seriously hurt the film because it kind of lessens the threat of each foe. Best the movie know who are main players and side characters—just like what they did with Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Matt Reeves' The Batman is set to come out in June 25, 2021.
