Star-Lord Peter Quill and T'Challa are two MCU characters who have never met, so it came as a surprise for everyone when Marvel's What If…? series showed us an alternate reality where Star-Lord turned out to be T'Challa. We don't have any official images out online yet, but @NC_Marvel on Twitter has given us this mock-up of what Chadwick Boseman could look like as Star-Lord.

As of now, there're a number of scenarios playing in my head on how T'Challa ends up in space. Maybe he comes from an alternate timeline where Wakanda has revealed itself and has pushed the world's knowledge of space travel. Another guess is that Yondu picked up the wrong kid when he was sent to Earth by Ego. Another guess is that Ego hung out in Wakanda when he arrived and T'Challa is actually a part planet.
The list goes on, but hopefully, Marvel Studios has thought of the coolest crossovers possible. I still can't contain the hype of an alternate reality where Peggy Carter is Captain Britain, and Steve Rogers is given some specialized Iron Man armor built by Howard Stark.
Seeing that this series comes out after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it's likely that that movie will set up the premise of this series. Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) is attached to voice the Watcher for What If…? and I can't help but think that confirms another Watcher appearance in the Doctor Strange sequel.
Marvel's What If…? is set to come out in the summer of 2021. Disney+ launches on Nov. 12.
