Marvel has Discussed a Silver Surfer Movie with Adam McKay

Director Adam McKay has recently fallen on the Marvel Studios fan radar after it was rumored that he was considered to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but it looks like McKay has his own MCU project in mind. Just in, it's said that he's had discussions about making a Silver Surfer film.

Talking to MTV, McKay shares:

"There actually has been some discussion about Silver Surfer. My agent certainly woke up. They were excited. We're in the middle of, you know, backing Vice right now, but, who knows, maybe in a couple months it could pop up. I really am excited about that idea. So, we'll see what happens."

With the Fox/Disney deal still being ironed out, it's unclear where the Silver Surfer property lies with Marvel right now. We know that he's part of the Fantastic Four lore, so we may have to wait a bit longer before any development can happen. Maybe Marvel is more interested in doing a new F4 film before going solo with Surfer? I guess we'll just have to wait.

Just in case you didn't know, McKay has worked on a Marvel film before. He was hired to make some rewrites on Ant-Man after Edgar Wright left the project. He hasn't been attached to any other MCU project since, but I would be happy to see him helm his own film. I mean, if Taika Waititi can do Thor: Ragnarok, why can't McKay try Silver Surfer?

So far, it looks like there aren't any solid projects for McKay in the MCU. Personally, I'm hoping he reconsiders and takes the GOTG Vol. 3 directing job.
