Gwyneth Paltrow Didn't Know Samuel L. Jackson Was in the MCU

Despite playing a prominent role as Pepper Potts in the MCU, Gwyneth Paltrow is not hiding anything when she reveals that she doesn't really watch any of the Marvel films. After her whole mishap about not knowing that she was in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Kevin Feige reveals that Paltrow had no idea Samuel L. Jackson was in the MCU as well.

Talking to Empire, Feige shares about the shooting of the funeral scene in Endgame and how all of the major Marvel players were brought together. Feige explains:

"Gwyneth Paltrow [was] asking why Sam Jackson was there, and the other actors [were] jumping in saying, 'What are you talking about? He's Nick Fury! You've been in movies with him.' But it was really something special."

While I understand that Paltrow doesn't feel obligated to watch any of the other Marvel projects, I think her not knowing that Jackson was in the MCU is also a tell that she doesn't watch the Iron Man films as well. Then again, she has no obligation to be a fan at all; just like Star Wars actors don't need to be into Star Wars as well.

For now, it seems that Paltrow's last appearance in the MCU is going to be in Avengers: Endgame. While she's hinted at in Spider-Man: Far from Home, I think it's going to be Happy Hogan who's going to be the face of Stark Industries moving forward. Then again, we don't really know what the future holds. Paltrow may not be keen on appearing in the Rescue armor, but I can imagine her being available for some smaller roles.

Catch Paltrow in Avengers: Endgame which hits Blu-Ray/DVD tomorrow.
