Margot Robbie Learned How to Hold Her Breath for 5 Minutes for Suicide Squad

With Birds of Prey coming out this weekend, Margot Robbie is doing the press rounds, and she recently went on an interview with Sean Evans in Hot Ones. What's interesting is, Robbie reveals that she actually had to learn how to hold her breath for five minutes for the first Suicide Squad.

The question starts at 1:39:

I actually had to rack my brain a bit to remember what underwater scene Harley had in Suicide Squad, then I remembered that the flashback she had with Batman and Joker has in a crashed car underwater where Batman attempts to save her then she springs back to life to attack him.

While it doesn't seem that Robbie had to learn anything as drastic for Birds of Prey, she does say that Harley spends a lot of time in the film on roller skates. Hopefully all that skating in I, Tonya helped in some way. As for the breath-holding technique, Robbie says it's become a fun ‘party trick' for her.

You have to applaud how hard Robbie is working recently. Besides starring in Birds of Prey, she's actually attached as a producer as well. I wonder if she'll ever grab the chance to actually direct a DCEU movie down the line.

It's open season on Harley Quinn when her explosive breakup with the Joker puts a big fat target on her back. Unprotected and on the run, Quinn faces the wrath of narcissistic crime boss Black Mask, his right-hand man, Victor Zsasz, and every other thug in the city. But things soon even out for Harley when she becomes unexpected allies with three deadly women -- Huntress, Black Canary, and Renee Montoya.

Catch Robbie in Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) when it hits theaters Feb. 7.
