Kevin Feige Reveals Alternate Iron Man Post-Credits Scene Teasing Spider-Man and the X-Men

Iron Man came out back in 2008, and the end-credits scene had teased the arrival of Nick Fury as well as the incoming world of the Avengers and the MCU. What's interesting is, there seems to be an alternate cut of the scene where Fury references non-Marvel Studios properties (back then) like Spider-Man and the X-Men.

This was shared by Feige himself at the Saturn Awards (via MCU Direct):

"As if gamma accidents, radioactive bug bites, and assorted mutants weren't enough, I have to deal with a spoiled brat who doesn't play well with others and wants to keep all his toys to himself."

The line "gamma accidents" was a nod to the next MCU film to Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, but I didn't expect them to have any shots that would tease properties that Marvel Studios didn't own at the time. If anything, I think they decided to shoot the scene as wishful thinking, seeing as the references were very specific to Marvel IP that they didn't own.

More than a decade later, Marvel now has the rights to Fox properties like X-Men and Fantastic Four, and though he may have been pulled out, we got a fantastic MCU run with Spider-Man. A lot of people are still bummed out about the Sony/Disney split, but hopefully, things turn out differently. It was shock enough that they actually got to team up in Civil War in the first place.

For now, the next MCU film is Black Widow, and it's set for a release on May 1, 2020.
