Kevin Feige Allegedly in Talks to Co-Produce Spider-Woman with Sony

Sony's Spider-Verse kind of has a weird place in the MCU, in a sense that only Spider-Man can make the jump to the bigger world while characters like Venom and Morbius have to keep within its universe. Rumors have been going around that Sony is working on a Spider-Woman film recently, and word has it that Kevin Feige is in talks to co-produce.

This comes from Charles Murphy during the Murphy's Law Podcast:

"The last that I heard, they were at least having conversations with Sony about trying to make it a co-opt. I know that Feige is at least interested in making a Jessica Drew movie with Sony"

With woman characters making a big hit in the cinema recently with the likes of Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, it would make sense for Sony to try and have a heroine franchise of their own. Though Spider-Gwen is pretty much tied to the animated Spider-Verse movies, for now, there's a lot of potential when it comes to Jessica Drew's story.

In the comics, Drew was actually a former HYDRA agent, so some guess that her movie could be tied to the MCU the way Tom Holland's Spider-Man is. With Feige onboard, we can definitely see that happening, but until we get official confirmation, I guess all we can really do is wait and see.

After the mess that was the Venom film, I'm kind of holding out before I can say that Sony can run their Spider-Verse competently. Hopefully, Morbius is going to have that quality that the MCU can get behind.

Spider-Woman has not been officially announced, but you can catch Morbius when it comes out on July 31.
